One of my biggest challenges in the classroom is our Daily 5 read to self center. We have developed the posters, we have modeled the expectations, and worked on building our reading endurance. Still I have students who are not engaged and reading. I added before Christmas break some tools to a reading tool kit. In the tool kit are holiday themed glasses, pointer fingers, whisper phones, and hats. These "tools" have captured their attention and kept them focused on reading. Take a look!
